Three new members added to Brunswick Community College Foundation board

Matt Elvington of Leland, Mike Forte of Boiling Spring Lakes and Mike Reaves of Caswell Beach have been elected to the Brunswick Community College Foundation Board.
Elvington, is a mortgage banker for WellsFargo in Wilmington. He has been in the financial services arena for more than eight years providing exceptional service and economic strategies for his clients. Elvington earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University with a concentration in Accounting; he is currently pursuing his Certified Financial Planning designation. Elvington and his wife Stacy, are active volunteers in their community and have a two-year-old daughter.
Forte, is a retired, former native of New York City. He has owned and operated several major businesses throughout his 30 year career including Anchor Pest Control and has always concentrated on customer relations, sales and management. He is a graduate of Fordham University, with a degree in Business/Accounting. Forte also founded the successful Cape Fear Italian Festival as a fundraising event for Brunswick Community College. He is dedicated to supporting all educational opportunities for students and champions many causes for that purpose. He was named “Businessman of the Year” by Morris County, NJ and twice named “Outstanding Young Man in America” by N.J. Monthly Magazine. Forte and his wife, Leighann, have three sons and are dedicated to serving their community.
Reaves is the former president of Brunswick Community College (1987-2005). He has 32 years of experience in the North Carolina Community College System. He earned a bachelor‘s degree in Education, a master’s degree in Education, and a doctorate degree in Education from NC State University, in Raleigh. He also is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Community College Presidents’ Academic and Professional Leadership Institute. As a lifelong educator, Reaves has received numerous accolades including: Rotary International’s “Service Above Self” award, Brunswick County Chamber’s “Citizen of the Year 2005” award and, DAR’s “Community Service Award 2009”. Additionally, he has been involved in many professional organizations and served as a director or chairperson on numerous boards, including: Brunswick County Economic Development Commission, Dosher Memorial Hospital Foundation, First Tee of Brunswick County and Cape Fear Council Boy Scouts of America. Reaves, and his wife Gloria, have two daughters and are committed to supporting the role of education in the community.
