Student Ambassador Association
Purpose:
The purpose of the Student Ambassador Program shall be to promote Brunswick Community College’s image, stimulate the interest and participation of all students in the progress of Brunswick Community College and to preserve and increase loyalty and fellowship between the institution, students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff.
Program Description: Student Ambassadors must have an outgoing personality, a professional appearance, and high academic achievement. In addition, nominees will be screened for strong written and oral communication skills (public speaking), knowledge of the college and community, ability to make a positive impression, scheduling flexibility, access to transportation, and high level of commitment to BCC. Ambassadors must maintain full-time status and will represent college at various events.
In their nomination by faculty/staff, grade point average, leadership potential and communication skills will be considered. Length of service will be one year with the option to renew for the second year with the Ambassador Advisor approval. A $500 scholarship will be awarded for one year, renewable. Uniforms will be provided for students.
Selection Process:
Interested students must:
- Complete a BCC Ambassador application
- Submit BCC transcript
- Submit one page essay on why you desire to represent BCC as an Ambassador
- Submit recommendations from one instructor and one recommendation from mentor/employer on your behalf
- Cumulative 2.5 grade point average or above
- Successful interview with Selection Committee
Responsibilities of Ambassadors:
- Serve as a resource for current and prospective students
- Host on-campus visits and give campus tours
- Assist with Foundation events and functions
- Communicate weekly with the Foundation office
- Serve as orientation leaders at both new student and parent orientations
- Facilitate and assist with registration and graduation
- Communicate with donors via phone and one-on-one contact
- Attend student ambassador training sessions and meetings
- Work with various campus departments as needed
